Minister of Christian Formation:

Lise Mikkelson

Mission Statement

St. Ann’s Ministry of Christian Formation is committed to sharing our Catholic Faith with others, proclaiming the Word of God, and celebrating the good news of salvation. Since our Faith is most powerfully expressed in our celebration of the Eucharistic Liturgy, the center of all catechetical efforts, we strive to express our beliefs in programs and activities, for all age groups, as opportunities to experience a deeper, more loving personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Christian Formation Committee

Committee members assist the Pastor and the Minister of Christian Formation to plan, review, monitor and assist at the various age-level formation programs offered in the parish.

Chairperson for Christian Formation: Janice Maino

Catechists teach regular weekly religious education classes for kindergarten through 12th grade from September through May. Two Catechists are required in each classroom session. In addition to training and enrichment in content and teaching techniques, on-going support, guidance and materials are provided. The Diocese requires VIRTUS training and a Child Protective Service back-ground check for this ministry.

Volunteers are needed to serve as facilita-tors leading small groups (6 to 10 people) in faith-sharing, scrip-ture study, reflection and discussion on a variety of pertinent top-ics. Resources, materials, support and training are provided. Background check and VIRTUS training are required.

FIRE

This Family Intergenerational Religious Education program in-volves the entire family in exploring our Faith. Led by parents, groups of three to five families meet in homes twice a month for about three hours. Parents and children in sacramental preparation grades also attend all the preparation classes, retreats and meet-ings held at the parish prior to the celebration of the sacraments.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

Parishioners are needed in this faith-sharing process to assist those who wish to explore the possibility of joining the Catholic Church. The R.C.I.A., a community-building journey of faith, focuses on Scripture and the Liturgy, and examines the key ele-ments of our beliefs, history and practices. The process assists participants to discern their readiness to join the Catholic Church by celebrating the Sacraments of Initiation.

YOUTH MINISTRY

St. Ann’s seeks to provide our middle (grades 6-8) and high school (9-12 ) youth with a comprehensive experience of a Catholic social community by offering programs that enable them to grow with one another in faith and friendship. We strive to pro-mote activities that develop their relationship with Christ and in-spire them to reach out in service to others in the wider community. Parents of these young people are needed to provide assistance and support for the activities and programs being offered. Coor-
